Gmail not working? What to try

Website won't load

Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R), then a private window. If it loads there, clear the site's cookies and cache or disable extensions.

App not working

Force quit the app and reopen it, then check the App Store or Google Play for an update. Switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data rules out your network.

Email not sending or arriving

Check webmail in a browser to rule out your mail app, and look in spam. Delayed mail often arrives once the outage ends.

Rule out your own connection

  • Check whether other sites load. If nothing loads, the problem is your internet connection.
  • Restart your router or switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
  • Turn off any VPN, ad blocker or DNS filter and try again.
