Microsoft Office not working? What to try
Website won't load
Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R), then a private window. If it loads there, clear the site's cookies and cache or disable extensions.
Docs or projects not loading
Reload the page and check whether you're in offline mode. Avoid heavy editing during an outage because changes may not save; copy anything important locally.
Rule out your own connection
- Check whether other sites load. If nothing loads, the problem is your internet connection.
- Restart your router or switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
- Turn off any VPN, ad blocker or DNS filter and try again.
Want to test a different site? Use our free website down checker. For incident updates straight from the company, see the official Microsoft Office status page.

Microsoft Office status FAQ
Is Microsoft Office down right now?
No. Our last check of Microsoft Office 2 minutes ago found it up and responding. This page updates every 5 minutes.
Why is Microsoft Office not working for me?
If this page shows Microsoft Office as up, the problem is most likely on your side: your browser, app, Wi-Fi, DNS or VPN. Try a private window, another device, or mobile data. If it fails everywhere and other people are reporting problems, it's an outage.
When was the last Microsoft Office outage?
We haven't recorded a confirmed Microsoft Office outage in the last 90 days. We count an outage when Microsoft Office fails our checks for at least 10 minutes in a row.
How do I check Microsoft Office status?
This page checks Microsoft Office every 5 minutes from our server and shows the result, response times and outage history. Microsoft Office also publishes an official status page with incident updates.
Can I get an alert when Microsoft Office goes down?
Yes. Add Microsoft Office (or your own website) as a monitor in Notifier and you'll get an email, SMS or phone call alert the moment it stops responding. The free plan covers 10 monitors. Start monitoring free.
