Google Meet not working? What to try
Website won't load
Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R), then a private window. If it loads there, clear the site's cookies and cache or disable extensions.
Streaming or playback problems
Lower the playback quality, restart the device, and run a speed test. Constant buffering with a normal speed test usually means the service is struggling.
Messages or calls failing
If messages won't send or calls drop, update the app and try another network. On a computer, try the web version. If many people report the same thing, wait it out.
Rule out your own connection
- Check whether other sites load. If nothing loads, the problem is your internet connection.
- Restart your router or switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
- Turn off any VPN, ad blocker or DNS filter and try again.
Want to test a different site? Use our free website down checker. For incident updates straight from the company, see the official Google Meet status page.

Google Meet status FAQ
Is Google Meet down right now?
No. Our last check of Google Meet 2 minutes ago found it up and responding. This page updates every 5 minutes.
Why is Google Meet not working for me?
If this page shows Google Meet as up, the problem is most likely on your side: your browser, app, Wi-Fi, DNS or VPN. Try a private window, another device, or mobile data. If it fails everywhere and other people are reporting problems, it's an outage.
When was the last Google Meet outage?
We haven't recorded a confirmed Google Meet outage in the last 90 days. We count an outage when Google Meet fails our checks for at least 10 minutes in a row.
How do I check Google Meet status?
This page checks Google Meet every 5 minutes from our server and shows the result, response times and outage history. Google Meet also publishes an official status page with incident updates.
Can I get an alert when Google Meet goes down?
Yes. Add Google Meet (or your own website) as a monitor in Notifier and you'll get an email, SMS or phone call alert the moment it stops responding. The free plan covers 10 monitors. Start monitoring free.
