ChatGPT not working? What to try

Website won't load

Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R), then a private window. If it loads there, clear the site's cookies and cache or disable extensions.

App not working

Force quit the app and reopen it, then check the App Store or Google Play for an update. Switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data rules out your network.

AI answers failing or slow

Start a new chat, shorten the prompt, and check whether you've hit a usage limit. During heavy load AI tools often return errors or stall before they go fully down.

Rule out your own connection

  • Check whether other sites load. If nothing loads, the problem is your internet connection.
  • Restart your router or switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data.
  • Turn off any VPN, ad blocker or DNS filter and try again.
