Was too tired to be coherent last night and ended up deleting my reply. Focusing on chest and arms (like I did in my younger years just to look good) left me with a weak core. Herniated disc at 35. 5 years of debilitating back pain. Finally strengthened my core like my physical therapist recommended years ago. Back pains and many other aches gone. Feel younger than ever. Just like they say with leg days and not skipping them, I suggest learning from my mistakes and don't skip ab/core day.

I started putting sprints into my workout once a week about a month ago. I started initially because the gym I was using wasn't open on what would normally be Leg Day #2, but I've enjoyed it so much that I plan to keep sprints in the rotation even when I get back to my regular gym. Here's the website I've been using: [http://sftrackandfield.com/track-workouts/](http://sftrackandfield.com/track-workouts/) I haven't been following it to the letter, but I've found it a good template. I've also been running mid-distances (4-6k) pretty consistently for a year now, which I think has helped a lot in terms of understanding how my body works when running and acclimating my joints to the impact. I'm no doctor, but I echo the sentiments of the human who suggested using a Couch to 5k program or the Nike Run Club app to build up to sprinting if running isn't something you've done much of. Also highly recommend using the Wonder Woman soundtrack as a playlist. :)

Tried lifting before class today and it was a game changer. Going to bed before 10pm goes against my general sensibilities for a vibrant night life, but I managed to drag my ass out of bed at 4am and hit the bench. Rolled with some straight killers after and got smushed but didn't die. I previously tried training before lifting which caused my lifts to stall. Split training/lifting on mornings/nights which was just extra time and more showers, plus the added get the fuck up and going initial energy level needed to happen twice. I'm waiting to see how class after leg day is gonna play out. Only thing I think I need now is an emotional support banana between session so I don't get too hangry.

Just as title says. (Message me describing what you look like!) Looking for muscular guys but my ultimate weakness is muscular, built, big, thick thighs legs. I really want to work my gluteus medius so I can achieve the "shelf booty," however, every exercise I see recommended for this (donkey kickbacks, glute bridges, lunges) work my quads as well as burn me out completely after doing only a handful. I like to always start off leg day with squats, and that helps me activate my glutes. However, the only way I can currently work them is if I use the hip abduction machine in a bunch of different ways (leaning forward, leaning back). I try the other exercises like donkey kickbacks and bridges and leg press, but even with just body weight, I find it difficult to concentrate the pressure from my feet all the way up to my glutes. it seems that the pressure comes from my quads which really tires me out and makes me give up. anyone have any suggestions on what I'm probably doing wrong? I also feel my lower back giving in and hurting when I try to do these. and when I try to take the weight off my lower back, it just goes bsck to my quads.

Manage your calorie intake. You can't work off a bad diet. Be consistent. It's much easier to keep going than it is to constantly start and stop. Give yourself rest days and rotate between muscle groups. Don't skip leg day. Core strength is vital.

Manage your calorie intake. You can't work off a bad diet. Be consistent. It's much easier to keep going than it is to constantly start and stop. Give yourself rest days and rotate between muscle groups. Don't skip leg day. Core strength is vital.

Cracked rib

Reddit

I sort of cracked a rib a few days ago. It hurts but I still went to the gym for leg day. Also did what I could for chest day. It would be disappointing to take a break and lose any progress I've made. What's your advice on taking a little time off to recover without losing any progress?
