@Copper_Thoughts @MonsterMomma91 Well - I'd readily say a pizza night, though I think a night of lazing around with a movie and plenty of takeout sounds like fun! :>

Split Pea Soup Pizza My father loves split pea soup. The restaurant he worked at in high school served it and he would make that recipe at least monthly when I was a teenager. Now, my father and step-mother were not known for using measuring cups, so they eyeballed and taste tested dishes until they were right. Nothing wrong with that, but when cooking for 6+ people, a mistake could mean a dish for 10 or more once everything is balanced. Hence the leftover split pea soup. Growing up, Friday night was pizza night. Really this was leftover night, since while we always had cheese, sauce, and the ingredients to make the crust, the toppings were often just leftover veggies and meat from the week. As you all assumed after the pea soup leftover story, we purchased extras of many ingredients to be used on pizza. Need a bell pepper? Buy two. Stuff like that. Anyways, so this Friday comes up, we had split pea soup earlier in the week (likely Sunday) and there were still leftovers. As I remember it, we were all home late that day for some reason, but maybe we were all in our rooms doing 'homework' before dinner. So despite pizza prep being a family affair, my father was left doing it himself. My step-mother and step-brother (a 30+ adult at the time) were not helping either, likely because the kids weren't. My father had made the dough the day before, so pizza making is quite simple, roll out some pies, add sauce, toppings, and cheese, and put in hot oven. He opens the fridge to look for leftovers. None of us are picky eaters, we enjoy quality food, but will eat almost anything. Brussel sprouts? Ok! Spinach? Yep! Biodegradable packing peanuts? I'll try it! He spies the split pea soup. Thinks to himself: "ham is good on pizza". Wisely he realizes that the normal tomato sauce wouldn't mix, so he nixes that, and puts the pea soup on the rolled out crust and tops with mozzarella. Now at this point, those who have never had split pea soup are thinking this sounds yummy. Bread, sweet peas, ham, and cheese. Yes. that would make an amazing panzanella. Split pea soup is not sweet. It is an earthy-umami bomb. The ham is the sweetness. Normally a pizza is carb, sweet-umami, , cheese This was carb, earthy-umami, cheese So yes, it tasted like a dirt pizza.

@Kalarigamerchic It creeps up on you. I recall the thought: a weekend is just seven meals. (counting Friday night = pizza night of course.) During the pandemic I resorted to copying my son's friend's parents. The same dish for more than one day per week. (Not gonna tell you what that meal was!)

I actually had a speech prepared. I didn't want to day it at Taza, so I thought we would go for a walk the next day and I would tell you this. It wasn't like a lecture, but more of a promise and a final statement regarding the past, so that we could focus on a future. It would detail 3 things; 1. The apology, the one that you are owed. 2. A commitment, so you know what you are coming back to. 3. A promise, that from this day forward, we do it all together. An army of two. No battles fought alone, psychological or physical. No exceptions. As to what we could actually do? Well, aside from getting to spend some time together again, eating BBQ pit boys inspired meals, and binge watching murder documentaries, being childish, and you telling me to stop screaming... and hopefully allowing out anxieties to wash away.. However, there is a bigger flame burning between us. You often said that I was good at those bigger visions. I still have a vision.. One I just cant shake. When you told me you were ready, I could think of only one thing. I wish you were ready to hear it, but your not, so I type it to reddit and wonder if it ever finds its way to you. You might not read these anymore. In about 12 hours time I'll start my T272 exam bringing the whole common core Engineering diploma to a close. In early November I'll get my results along with the exam for 2nd year. If I pass, I will be officially enrolled onto the master program. In March I will start the bachelor degree phase. Thats an important milestone. The Common Core Engineering degree allows for level 2 access to the Canadian Express Entry program amd also HB1 application for jobs in the USA. Its also listed on their required skills list for A visa. Most importantly it offers +1 status. We can both go and try a life somewhere. Full papers, full working rights, full healthcare. Canada is especially straightforward. We can go together. Once there you apply for roles that you actually want to get up for. Maybe you be a firefighter. Maybe a coastguard. Maybe start a business. Maybe fall pregnant. Maybe all of the above. You know I'd just fall to pieces if that happened. A dream. Maybe you just do whatever you like, you deserve the break. I continue the masters program, I will fly back 2 times over the next year to sit exams and collect materials, the rest is done remotely. Actually, we can come and go as much as we like. No hiding, or worrying about schedules. The C$ sits weak against the pound. By early 2023 I am a qualified BSc. Engineer. Recognised by the American, Canadian, European, Australian, Japanese, and British Engineering Councils. We can apply for real jobs anywhere we like. California, Brisbane, Tokyo, Jakarta, Auckland. Globally recognised qualification, second only to Medicine in regards to visa access... You know those families you hear about that have a varied and globetrotting story? Get to work in cool places and have an amazing story. That. We can go and do that. By late 2024 I will have completed the masters program. MSc. Engineers are a rare breed. If I could see this through, we could secure an American civil visa. We can become citizens in 5 years. Biden is literally screaming for professional application to the USA. How about year long internships in Japan. Or government work for German Green EU program. Lecture opportunities at the University of Mumbai... The world would be open to us. I could try and get into management, and you will be able to spend your time *not* slapping pizzas for Henry. Me and you side by side. Can you imagine enrolling little Luffy into a Japanese school for a year? With those tiny backpacks with the faces on them? I'd die. Thing is, that its not outwith the realm of possibility. If we wanted to do it. People do it all the time. People who dedicate there actions to serve a passion. We could build a real home. A future proof home. Something designed by us, for whatever comes next. Family. Animals. Financial collapse. Whatever the world throws at us. But what about now? What does the next 6 months look like? How do you any of it is real? Well, I show you the action that you never got to see. I'll tear every thread from this flat, and rebuild it. Repaint it. Redress it. I hate it as much as you. Maybe more It will all go. I'll quit the gym and all contact to and from it. I know it makes you sad, anxious, and uneasy. It's part of the past. I dont want it, nor the acquaintance it offers. Also, ill be nice to Rocket. He's only small. Thats where my mind went. When I saw you the next day, you said you weren't sure, I felt like half of our vision went up in smoke. The degree, the life away, the visa, the house, remained intact. The wife, the child, the pizza nights, the top gear specials... The other half of the whole coin. I dont know what you see for yourself Milo. I dont know if you can see a path out there for yourself.  I dont what you think of me, or what you hope to do. But I saw it clear as day. My exam goes live in 11 minutes. *The first step... I wonder where this path leads?*
