Every friday night is pizza night at our house. Our family of four fires up the breadmaker - I do make handmade bread on occasion but the breadmaker's super convenient and the resulting dough is way more than acceptable - and then raid the fridge for leftovers. I'll save a couple sausages from the week and they get sliced up, we slice peppers and mushrooms bought for the purpose and I make my own simple sauce with a can of tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and add garlic powder and a heap of oregano. Half of the pizza gets hot peppers, the other half green. If there's some leftover chicken or pork, it goes on there too. Slam the thing with a ton of mozzarella, grate parmesan and black pepper on top and BAM, huge meal to celebrate the weekend. But the comfort food part is not that night's pizza. It's the pizza for next day for lunch (like today's was, which is why this is such a magnificent memory for me right now), when I take a leftover slice and put it in a slightly oiled frying pan with a lid, and let it warm for 10 minutes on a low burner set to low. The result is warm pizza with a crunchy crust. OMG dammit, now I want the other leftover piece.

Happy #leftovers day*! 😋😋Are you a fan of Thanksgiving leftovers? Or is it gonna be a #pizza night tonight? 🍕🥪🍗 *we made this up 🤣😂 https://t.co/zUByil4Yuj

Photo from my pizza night. Actually this was the leftovers that I took a pic of the next morning so they look a bit dried out. Anyway I just wanted to show what authentic Detroit style pizza pans should look like. I see a lot of people using those Lloyd's aluminum pans. These are NOT Detroit style pans and they just don't produce the same results in my opinion. The aluminum pans don't produce the same crust and crispy bits. Actually I've come to use a pizza steel as opposed to a stone for my Neapolitan style pizzas too. Steel just seems to produce better results. This is not meant to criticize anyone using Lloyd's pans, just to inform people that these are not true Detroit style pans. I highly recommend trying steel for your pizzas. I'd love to know what y'all think?

@sunlorrie Paid $1.59/l this past week. Hard on the wallet. The gouge of government added tax in an amount that would have gone to a pizza night for my family. Why this burden of tax and high price for fuel when Canada has so much resource.

Yeah, it would be bad enough if it was some clinical, emotionally-neutral matter, people would find a way to not care even then(see: pandemic, did anyone have an emotional opinion on masks before some made it into a political issue?), but food is an emotionally charged topic - it's not just about the food, it's about the bonding experiences that accompany it. So when we say that, say, the price of dairy is cruelty, we're going up not just against their personal habits(that would be challenging enough), but all their warm and fuzzy memories of it - their grandma's cheesecake recipe, their first date where they ate ice cream, pizza nights with the boys, all the advertising campaigns that talk nonsense about happy cows. Some will have the critical thinking skills to see past that, but it's an uphill battle to be sure. Most will lash out with a knee-jerk reaction to defend those habits and memories.

Obviously you tried to do your best in a new situation and offered what food you could find and didn’t actually say no you can’t go and get food. But as others have said, a four year old can’t be expected to communicate with you his allergies etc. Tbh I disagree with the manager. Even if she has told a person each time she’s dropped her kid off that he has an allergy, she shouldn’t be expected to each time. It’s literally on his file. You guys are caring for children. Allergies are serious. If you’re taking care of someone else’s children in a professional context at a facility. You should be self aware enough to be like ok kids could have allergies, where is that information stored? Idk what country this is in, but presumably any place that takes over care responsibilities of children would have to have child safety procedures in place? As a company who not only cares for but regularly holds an event where they care for and provide food for children. How is there not a list of allergies easily accessible? Why isn’t this printed and stored somewhere safe from customers accessing for confidentiality reasons but easy for staff to accesses. As it would be difficult remembering various kids allergies. This could actually be potentially a huge legal issue. What if you gave the kid egg and the kid had an anaphylactic reaction? How would you deal with that? They need to have these issues addressed, safety protocols in place, etc etc. My one year daughter is allergic to eggs. I’d be pissed, if a place I pay for that she regularly attends, that I have documented the allergy with and told multiple staff and still that wasn’t acknowledged. I would sue/ take legal action and expect an apology if the food given to my kid had eggs in it and set off an anaphylactic reaction. More so to get ensure nothing bad happens to another kid. Plus the fact the allergy situation wasn’t handled well, doesn’t give me hope that the staff are able to provide first AID to the kid in that situation. I’m not a Karen but this is potentially life threatening to a kid and parents are entrusting the place to keep their kids safe. It’s not so much about oh kids lie and the kid made up a story of oh they wouldn’t let my kid it, it’s more of a situation the facility did not handle the fact my kid has a known allergy that has been told to the facility with measurements in place already that are easy to follow to keep kid safe but included, I.e. the pre packed food…. I wouldn’t probably joke that this is a “Karen” situation, as it’s not. Plus the fact you couldn’t make calls.. What if that kid did have a reaction? Your so lucky this didn’t go the other way. I’m assuming the kid regularly goes to this pizza night, as boss said she usually tells the staff and that the kid usually brings his own food. Shows a lack of attention from staff members to not take note of the regular kid with a lunch box due to his known allergies.

It's literally a IJN/JMSDF traditional food. Fridays used to be, and well *still* be Curry Night in the fleet, much the way there's Pizza Night on some USN ships. While there is a JMSDF curry, I doubt you could find one of their ships that follows it closely. Each ship has its own, like in the picture above. As the story goes, the man that would become Admiral Togo brought the concept of curry back to the fleet after his studies with the Royal Navy ended. Of course, Japanese curry is not British curry is not Indian curry. Saying it's "not Japanese food" simply glosses over just how popular curry is over there. It's almost as ubiquitous a fast-food as the burger is here. The city of Yokosuka, home of the largest Japanese naval base (kinda like San Diego is for the USN) is the center of "naval curry", and there are many shops that sell a specific vessel's curry. Of course, this being Japan, there's got to be a mascot, in this case [Sucurry](https://twitter.com/sucurry/status/1464016683023364096?s=20). Because nothing says curry better than a duck-seagull-thing wearing a sailor's uniform.

I remember delivering Dominos pizza to a nunnery, and it honestly made me kind of depressed. I got like 60 cents tip, and I somehow forgot their soda that wasn't on the order so I had to go back to store and bring it back. I always though about it, that Pizza night was their fun night, and I fucked it up by forgetting the soda.

I suppose it depends on the ages of your children. For kids: Movie night of your choice of film, pizza night or take out night of your choice, bake brownies/biscuits/cake together, day out at the park or local fun venue, teddy bear picnic or tea party, sleepover permission for a friend, pajama day (get out of chores day), ice cream with toppings of their choice day, or day at Grandparents (or willing relative). For teens: Driving lesson (could be done in your own car if you own one), voucher for spotify or whatever music distribution they use, top off of phone data, day at the salon/barber/nail boutique, friend stay over, voucher for room decoration, binge a netflix series of choice together, pajama day/chore free day is probably still desirable, cinema voucher for themselves and a friend, ignore bedtime voucher, decide dinner certificate, permission for a reasonable piercing, money for shoes that aren't for school, voucher to load up on snacks or food of your choice in the grocery shop, voucher for fun pampering like hot chocolate bomb and home spa stuff, or a day at the gym or another local venue they may be interested in.

YTA. Yes it is your house and you are able to invite people over that you choose. The TA part comes from you expectecting your wife to cater to people that she didn't invite over, especially for Thanksgiving when 6 extra people can mean a whole lot more work for prep and cooking that she wasn't expecting, especially if this was very last minute. As far as other days do a pizza night or store party trays and let you wife join in on the conversations and fun

Tbh we outsource so much of the household tasks currently and can’t think of anything other than a driver that’s missing. Although saying that my husband drives 98% of the time so I essentially have one 😂 Plans later - as it’s Friday it’s Pizza night! It’s the last Friday before my dad moves in with us for 3 months so we are taking advantage of it (he hasn’t eaten a pizza in his life and won’t start now) Then chill out, snuggled on the sofa (all the kids are home for once as well which is nice) and watch a few films
